In a message posted on Instagram on Tuesday, Bobrisky said he was shocked about the arrest, having spoken with Mompha a few days ago.

“I still find it to believe what I read about you. I still spoke with you a few days ago,” the 28-year-old wrote.

He added that God should see Mompha “through this tough time because you have a good heart.”

A statement by EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said Mompha was arrested for alleged involvement in internet-related fraud and money laundering.

“Ismaila allegedly perpetrates his fraudulent activities under the cover of being a Bureau de Change operator, to launder his proceeds of crime.
