Actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has announced that her movie To Be A Friend will return to YouTube months after it was taken down.

The 34-year-old shared a poster of the movie on Instagram on Monday, writing: “We’re coming back! I remember when I had to take TBAF down. I cried my eyes out. A silly avoidable mistake cost me a movie with almost six million views in its 3rd week. I almost lost everything, but mercy said no!

“One day, I’ll tell you the real story behind me taking down To Be A Friend. My advice to fellow filmmakers: just because they slide into your DM asking for help doesn’t mean you should help them. Some people are born evil and would do anything to reap where they didn’t sow.”

She added that To Be A Friend would be re-uploaded on her YouTube channel, BimboAdemoyeTV, on October 16 at 2pm, urging fans to support the comeback.

To Be A Friend was first released in July and became a fan favourite before its sudden removal. In August, Bimbo explained that the movie was taken down due to copyright issues with its sound.

“It’s sad but life goes on,” she said in a video at the time. “We had a bit of a situation with copyright issues with sound. No, we didn’t go through back doors and yes, we picked the right channel, but it is what it is.”

Written by Bimbo and directed by Great Val Edochie, the film stars Bimbo Ademoye, Uzor Arukwe, Deyemi Okanlawon and Kunle Remi.

It tells the story of a man accused of murdering his wife, only to uncover shocking betrayal from his closest friend.
