Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has celebrated the memory of her late husband, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, on what would have been his 92nd birthday.
In a post shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Mrs Odumegwu-Ojukwu honoured the late Biafra leader, calling him a symbol of love, resilience and justice.
“Happy Heavenly Birthday, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu,” she wrote.
She raised a glass to her late husband in remembrance of the love and laughter they shared.
“My Dearest, since you’re not here with me, I raise a glass to you… to the love and laughter you brought into my life, to your legacy of resilience, equity, justice and hope which continues to grow and inspire, even in your absence, and in the hardest of times.”
She added that his legacy of resilience, equity, justice and hope continued to grow and inspire many people despite his absence.
“Thank you for all the wonderful memories. They shine like stars, especially in the darkest of nights. Three hearty cheers! It’s yet another beautiful day in Heaven,” she concluded.
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu led the Eastern Region during the Nigerian Civil War from 1967 to 1970.
He died in London on November 26, 2011, at the age of 78.
He was given a state burial by the Nigerian government under then-President Goodluck Jonathan.
Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu married the late Ojukwu in 1994. The couple had three children, Afamefuna, Chineme and Nwachukwu.
