Nigerian celebrity couple, Banky W and Adesua Etomi, have earned praise from South Africa for using their wedding and honeymoon to promote the country’s tourism.

The commendation came from South African Tourism (SAT) Regional Manager, West Africa, Lehlohonolo Pitso.

“Thank you for choosing SA as your preferred wedding destination and for allowing us to share with you some of our special treasures,” Pitso said in a message posted on Instagram along with a picture of him and the newlywed.

A source close to Mr and Mrs Oluwabankole Wellington informed Qed.ng that SAT supported the couple with their wedding in return for aggressive social media promotion.

With over 2million fans following Banky W on Instagram and 1million for his wife, the deal was concluded before they held their traditional wedding in Lagos on November 19.

“Part of the deal is to share their experience online,” the source who craved anonymity told this online newspaper.

The deal also extended to Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Kelechi Amadi-Obi and other celebrity friends of the couple who travelled with them aboard a South African Airways flight on November 20.

“Banky W and others were required to use the promotional hashtags #MySAExperience and #flySAANigeria on their Instagram posts,” the source added.

“That explains why husband and wife could not stay away from social media as advised by Omotola (Jalade-Ekeinde) even after Banky W streamed his wife’s naked body on Instagram”.

Among the places the couple and their friends visited and promoted while in South Africa were Table Mountain, Cape Town; Zebula Golf Estate And Spa, Limpopo and Mandela House in Soweto.
