Singer, Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has educated a Twitter user, Akah, who blamed the spike in the number of coronaviruses cases in Nigeria on the team of Chinese medical experts invited to help the country fight the pandemic.

The 39-year-schooled him on the platform on Monday.

He tweeted, “The numbers started soaring because we have drastically ramped up the number of tests we are doing every day, bro. The true numbers were always much worse than what we knew. We were just under-testing and under-reporting because of a lack of testing capacity…”

Akah then replied, “Look, my tweet isn’t literal. The doctors aren’t the reason why the numbers are up. True. But the tweet above is just an expression of the distrust I have of the Chinese govt. In my mind, They are at fault for everything.”

The decision by the Nigerian government to invite a team of 15 Chinese medical experts to help tackle the pandemic, was met with opposition from the public and even the Nigerian Medica Association (NMA) which argued that the country’s medical experts could effectively handle the situation on their own.

Despite the backlash, the team consisting of doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians, arrived the country on April 8.
