Bala Mohammed promises justice for 6-year-old with amputated private part

Bauchi State Government has promised to get justice for a six-year old child in Jama’are Local Government Area of the state whose private part was cut off.

The police had said a 20-year old man was arrested for allegedly cutting off the girl’s private area for suspected ritual purposes.

However, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abdulrazaq Zaki, who represented Governor Bala Mohammed during a sympathy visit to the family of the victim in Jama’are, said the incident was unacceptable and unfortunate.

Mr Zaki said, “Governor Bala Mohammed is deeply touched by this negative act and we are here on his behalf to sympathise with the parents and to assure them that, government will take care of her treatment.

“The government will take a sound measure against the perpetrators of this act to serve as a deterrent to others.”

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development Hajara Gidado said the governor’s wife had constituted a committee to serve as legal adviser for the victim.

Commissioner for Health Aliyu Maigoro said the victim required plastic surgery.


At the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where the victim is receiving treatment, Zaki made a donation of N1million cash, adding that the government would take care of her treatment.
