Comedian Baba Ijesha

The name of Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha, has been entered into the register of sexual offenders in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency confirmed this to Punch on Friday.

International Federation of Women Lawyers described the action as a welcome development.

The executive secretary of the agency, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said, “All details of sex convicts are immediately enrolled into the sex offenders register once a conviction is secured.”

An Ikeja Special Offences Court on Thursday, July 14 found Baba Ijesha born Olanrewaju James guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

The minor is the foster daughter of comedianne Princess.

In a two-hour judgement, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo convicted Baba Ijesha of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.

Justice Taiwo said that the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty of all six charges against him.

Baba Ijesha was discharged and acquitted of count one and count six, which were sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration.

During trial, Baba Ijesha told the court that Princess was his former lover and that his romance with her foster daughter was scripted.
