The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nentawe Yilwatda has congratulated Muslim and Christian faithful on the commencement of Ramadan and Lent.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy Abimbola Tooki Chairman Yilwatda said the two periods of fasting and reflection are significant for adherents of both faiths.
He noted that Ramadan and Lent beginning on the same day sends a message of unity, adding that Nigerians are bound by a shared destiny regardless of religion and that peaceful coexistence is necessary for national progress and stability.
According to him, both seasons promote discipline, compassion, humility, love and service to humanity.
He urged Nigerians to allow these values to guide their conduct and strengthen relations between Muslims and Christians.
“At this critical moment in our national journey, I call on all Nigerians to use this sacred period to pray fervently for our country and for the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as it undertakes far-reaching reforms aimed at stabilising and repositioning our economy and society.
“With sincere prayers, unity of purpose, patience, and collective sacrifice, these reforms will land safely and yield lasting solutions to our economic and social challenges,” he said.
Yilwatda expressed hope that the season would renew faith and reinforce commitment to peace, unity and national development.
He wished Muslims “Ramadan Mubarak” and prayed that Allah accepts their fasts, prayers and acts of charity.
He also wished Christians a fulfilling Lenten season and prayed that the period draws them closer to God in faith and service.
