Another Catholic priest kidnapped in Enugu

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped another Catholic priest in Enugu State barely one month after the Vice-Rector of Queen of the Apostle Spiritual Year Seminary, Imeize Owa in Ezeagu LGA, Rev. Fr Arinze Madu, was kidnapped.

Rev. Fr Theophilus Ndulue was kidnapped on Friday evening on his way home along Amansiodo road.

Ndulue is the parish priest in Ihuonyia, Amansiodo in Ndiagu Oghe, Ezeagu LGA.

Director of Communication, Enugu Catholic Diocese, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Achi, confirmed the incident to Punchng.com on Saturday.

“A colleague working in that area just informed me. That’s all. No extra information,” he said.

The kidnap comes barely three months after Rev. Fr. Paul Offu was gruesomely killed by gunmen at Ihe-Agbudu road in Enugu.

Police in the state have also confirmed the incident.

Enugu police spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, said Fr Ndulue was kidnapped alongside a woman identified as Stella Nwodo.

Mr Amaraizu added that the woman has been rescued by operatives of Operation Puff Adder.

He assured that the police have begun searching for the kidnappers and the priest.

The latest incident brings the number of kidnapped Catholic priests in Enugu to eight in less than eight months, two were killed among them.
