Anglican church sacks priest filmed kissing students on pulpit

Anglican priest Obeng Larbi kisses student in Ghana

The Anglican Communion Church in Ghana has sacked the priest that kissed three female students in a viral video.

The church sacked Reverend Obeng Larbi on Tuesday following a meeting held over the issue.

Apart from removing him as chaplain of St. Monica College of Education Larbi will be unable to serve as lawyer in the Ghana Education Service in Ashanti.

The church also assured that the girls involved would be counselled.

Larbi “is relieved of his duties as chaplain of the College and other official duties pending investigations and recommendations from the committee,” a letter from the church to the priest read.

George Dawson-Ahmoah, the executive director to the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ghana, had in a statement on Tuesday said the church was “saddened” by the development.

“The Church is saddened by the news and wish to state expressly that thorough investigation has immediately been instituted into the matter and the action of the said Priest would be dealt with in accordance with the norms and values of the Anglican Communion where morality is extremely revered in the Church,” the statement read.
