Actress and model Beverly Osu has revisited the widely talked-about sex scandal involving her and South African dance teacher Angelo Collins during the 2013 edition of Big Brother Africa.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the 32-year-old addressed the lingering rumours, insisting that contrary to public perception, she never had sex with Angelo while on the show.
“I was madly in love with Angelo and got too comfortable around him, which led to the rumours,” she explained.
Beverly admitted that the controversy had a significant impact on her early career, adding that many of the challenges she has faced in life stem from matters of the heart.
“I have people that love me for who I am. And the highlight of it is that, I didn’t do it [have sex on reality show]. I was 20… I brought out so many things from Big Brother other than that [my relationship with Angelo].
“I was so irritated because that was the only thing viewers picked because I was in love. Literally, it was love. All my problems in life come from love,” she said.
“Every problem that I have had in this life is because of the greatest gift of God; love. I was madly in love with Angelo. That was why I was free around him. I was dating na, make we tie gele? I was in love with him,” she added.
Beverly and Angelo’s relationship was one of the highlights of Big Brother Africa: The Chase.
The pair were frequently seen together on the show, leading to speculation that they had sex during their time in the house—claims that went viral and were heavily discussed on social media at the time.
