Manchester United striker Alexis Sanchez has denied betting on Jose Mourinho’s sacking with his team-mates.

A report on Friday claimed the Chile international had told defender Marcus Rojo he owed him £20,000 in the wake of Mourinho’s departure on Tuesday.

But the former Arsenal man, whom Mourinho signed for United in January, says the claims are not true.

“This is FALSE!!!”  he wrote on Twitter.

“Jose gave me the chance to play for the best team in the world and I only have gratitude for him.

“We are a truly United team. We are MANCHESTER UNITED. Respect. I can’t wait to help the team. Good luck tomorrow family!”

Sanchez has only scored four times for United since they beat rivals Manchester City to his signature in January and he is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem.
