Singer, Alariwo of Africa, has confirmed that he is currently battling Varicocele which is an enlargement of veins inside the scrotum.

Friends of the touted crossover king recently launched a campaign to raise $130,000 for him to undergo surgery abroad to little effect.

In an interview with Punch, the man who was spotted at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Sunday denied reports that he was bedridden.

According to him, I was not bedridden and I have never been. But it is true that I am about to undergo surgery.”

Luckily for the 46-year-old, Julius Agwu, who recently survived a brain surgery in the United States, has donated the sum of $35,000 for him to seek treatment.

“Julius is the only entertainer that has volunteered to donate the sum of $35,000 to my cause. I was shocked when he called to say he would give me the money. Now what I should be looking for is the balance. I want to thank him for this wonderful gesture,” he said.

Although he has a price tag for the treatment the singer disclosed earlier in the interview that he has not decided on where to go for the surgery.

“I am still trying to find the right place to have it done. I have to choose either India, Germany, Israel, England or America,” he volunteered, even as he added that “I have been taking some drugs to slow down the pain in my scrotum until I am ready to undergo surgery. All I just need is enough funds to travel abroad and treat it.”

Alariwo also revealed that his wife has been diagnosed with acute pulmonary embolism but is receiving treatment and getting better.

“My wife has been in the hospital for over one month. She has been down with acute pulmonary embolism. It has been very tough, but God has taken control. The doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital said only a few people could survive the ailment. I am happy that she is one of them,” he said.

Other people who he said have helped him include Ayo Animashaun and Otunba Sesan Rufai.

Alariwo, whose real name is Oluwarotimi Martins, became a household name when he dropped his hit single, ‘Yawa Go Gas’.
