Iniubong Umoren alleged killer Uduak Akpan

Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo on Thursday convicted Uduak-Abasi Akpan for the murder of jobseeker Iniubong Umoren.

The convict was sentenced to death by hanging and life imprisonment on the two charges of murder and rape.

The trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang, however, discharged and acquitted the second and third defendants, Mr. Frank Akoan and daughter Anwan-Bassey Akpan.

Ms Umoren, 26, a graduate of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), was buried on Friday at her hometown, Nung Ita, Ikot Essien in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

Mr Akpan, who was studying public administration at Obong University, Obong Ntak, told the press at the state police headquarters in Uyo that he had lured and raped six women with similar fake job offers but denied killing any of them apart from Umoren.
