Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, widow of former governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu, has lashed out at her husband’s niece, Funke Akeredolu-Aruna, for backing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the state’s governorship election in November.

Aiyedatiwa, formerly Ondo deputy governor, was sworn in as governor on December 27, 2023, following Akeredolu’s death.

Aiyedatiwa faces stiff opposition to secure the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party prepares for its primary in April. Many of Akeredolu’s supporters have accused him of betraying his former boss.

In a post on Instagram on Monday, Mrs Anyanwu-Akeredolu described Akeredolu-Aruna as a ‘bloody serpent’.

“Behold the face of Aketi’s niece, Funke Akeredolu Aruna, the former deputy chief protocol to Aketi, shamelessly parades as ‘I am lucky’ Bloody serpent! Time will tell if she is truly lucky!” She wrote.

She said, “Darlin,….It’s me, your adorable Betty. You just left me just like that! It hurts. Badly it hurts. Now alone to face all manners of mockery from the so-called friends and adversaries alike.

“Not a few lashed out that you were a weakling because you loved me. A beg o! Can an Amotekun generalsimo be a weakling? Mbanuu! It doesn’t add up nau. Haba By the way, do they know what love is? I don’t think so.

“In their homes while growing up they saw their mothers trampled upon as doormats. Beaten up like punchbags.

“They copied the template and treated their wives as pieces of furniture that can be easily discarded as trash.”
