Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and wife of the Ooni of Ife Prophetess Olori Naomi Ogunwusi on Friday attended the funeral service of Prophet T.B. Joshua at the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Ikotun-Egbe, Lagos.

Mr Akeredolu took the first reading from 1 Corinthians 15: 51-57.

Joshua was a native of Arigidi, Ondo State. His philanthropic works surround the community and neighbouring ones.

Ondo State Government House Choir performed at the interment service.

Mr Sanwo-Olu was represented by the commissioner for home affairs, Prince Olanrewaju Elegushi.

Legendary flutist Tee Mac also delivered a soul-searching performance of ‘Amazing Grace’ at the occasion.

Also among guests was His Royal Majesty King Willard Mswati Gomani from Malawi.

A short clip of the late clergyman was played for congregants at the internment service. It details remarkable events in Joshua’s life, such as his birth in Arigidi where he reportedly escaped being crushed by a stone from a blasting site and his high level of spiritual awareness as a primary school pupil. The clip also shows the humble beginnings of the SCOAN.

While giving a message entitled “the legacy lives on,” Prophet Chris took his reading from Matthew 6:6 – “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

He quoted Joshua in saying, “The Holy Spirit is more interested in what we do secretly, privately because the One you serve in secret will stand to reward you in the open.”
