Aisha Buhari, wife of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has officially returned to the family’s Kaduna residence along with her children, 12 days after the former president’s burial in Daura, Katsina State.

The former First Lady, her son Yusuf and other members of the Buhari family arrived at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Kaduna on Sunday.

They were received by the deputy governor of Kaduna State, Hadiza Balarabe, alongside the majority leader of the State House of Assembly, Munira Tanimu and other senior government officials.

The delegation extended a warm and respectful reception to the Buhari family, reflecting Kaduna State’s continued honour for the late elder statesman and his legacy.

After the formal reception, the deputy governor personally escorted Mrs. Buhari and her entourage to their residence in Ungwan Rimi GRA, Kaduna.

This development marks the family’s full transition back to Kaduna following the death of the former President earlier this month at 82.

He died in a London hospital and was buried on July 15 in his hometown Daura, according to Islamic rites.

Buhari had earlier relocated to Kaduna in February after spending nearly two years in Daura following his exit from office in May 2023.

His return to Kaduna was marked by a high-level reception that included Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna) and Babagana Zulum (Borno), as well as other top government officials.
