Ahmed Musa ends Lyon’s Europa League dreams

Super Eagles star, Ahmed Musa, is gradually returning to his predatory best at CSKA Moscow with a goal in Thursday’s 3-2 victory over Lyon in the Europa League.

The 25-year-old endured a torrid 18 months at Leicester City before returning to Russia on loan in January.

That move has proved a masterstroke as the Nigerian is almost back to his finest form.

Lyon had one leg in the last eight after defeating the Military club 2-1 on the road.

However, Musa inspired an incredible comeback and victory at the Groupama Stadium.

The dazzling winger came close to putting the visitors in front after 22 minutes but it was Alan Dzagoev who struck gold 15 minutes later.

Gnaly Maxwell Cornet restored parity for last season’s semifinalists near the hour mark.

Their joy was shortlived no thanks to Musa who beat Anthony Lopes to finish off a Kirill Nababkin cross.

Pontus Wernbloom made it three before Mariano Diaz grabbed a consolation for Lyon.

In the end, Musa and his cohorts ended the French side’s dreams of a home final.
