AGN does not have power to suspend Adanma Luke’s movie production – AMP president

AMP president Queen Blessing Ebigieson

The national president of Association of Movie Producers (AMP) Queen Blessing Ebigieson has stated that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) does not have the power to suspend their member, Adanma Luke, from continuing the production of her movie Another Side of Life.

Blessing Ebigieson said this in an interview with Arise News on Friday while reacting to a statement by AGN president Emeka Rollas, announcing that the movie production has been suspended indefinitely and actors are banned from working with Adanma.

Emeka Rollas made this known after a member of the guild, Junior Pope, died in a boat accident with four others.

Speaking on the suspension, Blessing said: “The AGN president does not have the powers to suspend my producer. His power starts and ends in AGN, my power starts and ends in AMP. And when it comes to suspending production, he also do not have that power because he is not the president of Nollywood.

“The Federation of Guilds where we all belong to are the only ones who can bring out such a directive and it will be taken seriously because everybody is in the federation, not one man standing and just writing letters and just pushing them in one place.”

Junior Pope was confirmed dead on April 10 after several attempts to resuscitate him failed. The actor alongside other crew members drowned in Anam River on their way back from the set of Another Side of Life, a movie produced by Adanma Luke.

Adanma was accused of negligence, following claims that she did not provide life jackets for her crew, a claim she later debunked, saying that life jackets were available but Junior Pope rejected his because it was dirty.
