Lateef Adedimeji Anikulapo the Series

Kunle Afolayan has confirmed that Lateef Adedimeji will feature in Anikulapo the Series, which is a spinoff of the movie released in 2022.

The filmmaker made the announcement in a message on Tuesday ahead of the release of a slate of Nigerian movies and series on Netflix.

Anikulapo is the story of Saro a travelling cloth weaver who found fortune in the old Oyo kingdom. His entanglement with the king’s wife Arolake earned him banishment from the town and a death sentence.

He got another chance at life and fortune after a mystery bird resurrected him and left behind a gourd with the power to raise the dead. Greed and lust, however, caught up with Saro, prompting Arolake to plot his downfall.

Anikulapo got wide positive reviews and got 16 nominations at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), winning five honours including best overall movie.
