AFCON: South Africa legend, Steven Pienaar, wary of dangerous Iwobi

Ahead of South Africa’s crucial Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifier with Nigeria, ex-Bafana Bafana skipper, Steven Pienaar, has warned the team against the threat Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi.

Both sides clash on Saturday, November 17 in Johannesburg with the winner certain to be in Cameroon.

Pienaar who had a long spell in the Premier League playing for Everton, Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur insists that Iwobi’s current form for his club is extremely frightening.

Iwobi came on as a second-half substitute for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 68th minute and provided the assist that led to Arsenal’s equalizer in the match against Liverpool on Saturday.

“Every time I watch Iwobi I’m on the edge of my chair,” the ex-winger was quoted by South African media.

“He carries a dangerous threat and Bafana must keep an eye on him.”

Iwobi was listed by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr for the encounter.

Nigeria leads the group with nine points, followed by the Rainbow nation on seven.
