Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated a former governor of the state and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adebisi Akande, on his 87th birthday.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said Mr Akande is among the leaders who devoted time and resources to national development.

Governor Adeleke said Akande remains part of Nigeria’s political history, noting his roles in party formation and governance.

The governor recalled that Akande supervised the construction of the Osun State Government Secretariat during his tenure as governor between 1999 and 2003.

“Chief Bisi Akande has served Nigeria in various capacities. He played roles in the formation of opposition parties, starting with the Alliance for Democracy (AD), which later became the Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and the All Progressives Congress (APC), now the ruling party,” he said.

He also described Akande as a source of experience in public administration, political development and regional development.

“As former governor of Osun State, national leader of the APC and secretary to the government of the old Oyo State, Chief Akande contributed to national development. His work had effects on Osun State and Nigeria. We acknowledge his service and commitment to the country,” the governor added.

The Osun State Government also extended birthday greetings to Bisi Akande, wishing him good health.
