Adamu Garba to publish donors after withdrawing from presidential race

Crowwe founder Adamu Garba said on Wednesday that he would be publishing his donors and refunding all donations following his withdrawal from the presidential race.

Garba pulled out of the race on Monday after raising N83 million, just N17 million short of the cost of the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Some of you who donated online might have forgotten the amount. Hence we’ve requested a full statement of account from our bank,” he tweeted.

“We’ll publish the list of all the donors & their contributions. Simply highlight your name, email us your details, we’ll check & refund.”

Garba said he believed the system would help to make it easier for the donors while also help those making claims to authenticate their claims properly.

“However, we might have drop out of APC race but this is not over yet. We still have a lot more to do. We must work to rebuild Nigeria together,” he added.

Briefing newsmen on Monday in Abuja, Garba said he withdrew from the race due to the high cost of obtaining the forms.

“We further discovered that even if we went ahead to obtain the form, the party has foreclosed the plan for primary election because of the presence of the request for a Letter of Voluntary withdrawal on page 18 of the nomination form.

“I cannot, in all honesty, rally funds from my supporters in the hope that we will be having a primary election, then sign a postdated letter of voluntary withdrawal from the contest,” he said.
