Veteran actress Sidikat Odukanmi, popularly known as Iyabo Oko, has been confirmed dead.

Iyabo Oko died on Wednesday according to her daughter Bisi Aisha who announced her demise via social media.

The actress was away from the movie scene for years due to an undisclosed ailment.

Though details of her death have not been made public, Aisha, a soldier, announced her mum’s death with the words, “May ur soul Rest in Peace Mummy.”

Aisha raised a false alarm about her mother’s death in January last year.

Writing in an Instagram post, she said: “My mum is gone. Rest well mummy. May your soul Rest In Peace mummy.”

Actress Foluke Daramola-Salako also announced that the 62-year-old was dead on her Instagram page. She wrote, “And finally we lost her. RIP Iyabo Oko. We did our best but God knows best.”

Aisha, however, returned to Instagram the following day to say her mother was not dead after all.

“Wonderful being. She moved her hand after being confirmed dead three hours ago. God, we will forever praise your HOLY name,” she wrote.

Foluke also retracted the post announcing Iyabo Oko’s death.

“Updates on Iyabo Oko. Just heard from her daughter again that she moved her hand that she’s still alive o.

“Hallelujah o she’s alive o. It was her same daughter that announced her death to me before and she was the one that said she’s alive now,” the 45-year-old wrote.

The actress wrote in another post: “Yes she is already in the hospital as we speak. Thank you everyone. We still need your prayers please.”
