Ailing Yoruba movie actor, Gbolagade Akinpelu, popularly known as Ogun Majek, is dead.

The actor, who in April appealed for financial assistance, died on Thursday at home in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

President of Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Bolaji Amusan, confirmed the passing.

Filmmaker, Tunde Ola-Yusuf, also confirmed the incident in a Facebook post.

Tunde Ola-Yusuf: “From him, we come and on to him we shall return, Alhaji Gbolagade Akinpelu Ogun Majek has returned to his creator. May God Almighty rest his soul among the righteous. Amen.”

Ogun Majek was rumoured to have died in May, a report which was debunked by actress, Foluke Daramola, on Instagram.

This came after the rumour had appeared on her Facebook page. She confirmed that he was still alive and blamed Godmyne TV, which managers her page, for the error.

”Let’s be guided please. This has been brought to my notice and it’s so unfortunate, cos I am not the one that manages my Facebook account it’s been like that for so many years, its goldmyne that has been running it for me… And Alhaji Ogun Majek is not dead pls, we still spoke this morning,” she wrote on Instagram on May 2.
