Accident bureau recovers crashed helicopter’s black box, begins probe

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has begun probing the circumstances leading to the crash of a helicopter on Friday in Lagos after recovering the aircraft’s black box.

The helicopter crashed into a residential building with three persons on board. Two have been confirmed dead while one person is in intensive care.

Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said people on the ground were not affected by the crash.

The helicopter, a Bell 206, with registration number 5N BQW belongs to Quorum Aviation.

It came into Lagos from Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital with two crew members and a passenger.
