The abducted students and staff of Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State have been released after more than a week in captivity, a top security source told PUNCH on Saturday.

Bandits dressed in military uniform had stormed the school on February 17 and abducted 27 students, three staff members, and 12 members of their family.

The abduction forced the governor Abubakar Bello to close boarding schools in crises areas.

A statement by a senior aide of the governor said the victims were received by the chief of staff to the governor Ibrahim Balarabe at the Niger State Development Company (NSDC) suite in Minna.
