Abbas Tajudeen celebrates Benjamin Kalu at 54

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has showered praise on his deputy, Benjamin Kalu, describing him as a dependable ally in the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.

In a statement released to mark Kalu’s 54th birthday on Sunday, Abbas extolled the virtues of the lawmaker, calling him a “reliable co-pilot” and a key figure in their shared mission to build a progressive and effective legislature.

“Right Honourable Kalu has been a dependable deputy and has made the leadership journey easier due to our shared goals and belief in the legislature’s vital role in nation-building,” Abbas said in the congratulatory message.

The speaker further commended Kalu’s diligence, intellect and unwavering dedication to national development, describing him as “hardworking, resourceful, and goal-oriented.”

Abbas said their collaborative efforts in leading the house have continued to yield positive results, thanks to their common vision and commitment to good governance.

He added, “As leaders of a progressive federal legislature, we have recorded several successes and interventions that underscore our passion for the growth of the Nigerian state.”

Abbas prayed for continued good health and divine wisdom for Kalu as he continued to serve the nation.

Benjamin Kalu, a lawyer and lawmaker representing Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State, was elected deputy speaker of the house in June 2023.

He previously served as the spokesperson for the house and is known for championing peace-building initiatives in the South-East.
