Ramatu Kyari, wife of the embattled deputy police commissioner Abba Kyari, on Monday slumped at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Mrs Kyari lost consciousness shortly after Justice Emeka Nwite deferred ruling on applications that Kyari and six other persons facing drug trafficking charges with him, filed to be released on bail pending the determination of the case against them.

Those around feared she could be asthmatic.

Efforts were ongoing to stabilise her at the time of filing this report.

The NDLEA had urged the court to deny Kyari and all the other defendants bail.

According to the agency, the police officer who used to head the intelligence response team would jump bail.

The judge then adjourned the case for further hearing.

Last week, Kyari’s two co-defendants pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges.

The defendants, Chibuinna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwanne, were arrested with several kilogrammes of cocaine in their possession.
