The Police Service Commission (PSC) has given the police two weeks to conclude investigation on a deputy police commissioner Abba Kyari who is allegedly linked to internet fraud.

Kyari, who is currently suspended from the Force, is alleged to have been involved in a $1 million scam perpetrated by convicted internet fraudster Ramon Abass aka Hushpuppi and five others.

A statement signed by the commission’s spokesman Ikechukwu Ani said the PSC also directed that the investigation should be carried out by a different panel.

The commission, which is chaired by former inspector-general of police (IGP) Musiliu Smith, took the decision at the continuation of its 14th plenary meeting, which ended in Abuja on Friday.

Until his suspension by the commission, Kyari was the officer-in-charge of the inspector-general of police intelligence response team.

A special panel set up by the IGP Usman Baba had earlier investigated Kyari and forwarded the report to the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, Abubakar Malami, for legal advice.
