Abaribe causes stir with ‘The Dot Nation’ shirt

Enyinnaya Abaribe wears The Dot Nation shirt

Senate minority leader Enyinnaya Abaribe has raised eyebrows after appearing in public with a T-shirt inscribed with “The Dot Nation”.

Qed.ng could not immediately verify when the Abia South senator wore the shirt. However, reports say he wore it to his office in the National Assembly.

‘Dot nation’ became popular in the south-east following President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent interview with Arise TV, where he described those from the region agitating for secession as “a dot in a circle” who would not have anywhere to run to should they secede from Nigeria.

Although, many say he was referring to the indigenous People of Biafra, others say he was talking about the entire Igbo people.

Abaribe’s shirt has sparked widespread reactions, especially on social media.

An official of Lagos State Government Joe Igbokwe in a Facebook post on Tuesday called Abaribe an “ethnic bigot”.

“A Senator and an ethnic bigot, an elder for nothing. The blood of those policemen and the uninformed youths killed in the South-East will be accounted for in the fullness of time, We cannot be mad all the time,” he said.

Mr Igbokwe also vowed to write a book about Abaribe.

Amid agitations for Biafra, south-eastern leaders have continued to stress their support for a united Nigeria.
