Following the death of former oldest person in the world, Emma Morano, on Sunday, April 16, another 117-year-old has taken over the baton.

Jamaican woman, Violet Brown, now has the title for which her country’s Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, tweeted his congratulations.

Born on March 10 1900, Brown told newspaper, Jamaica Gleaner, that she still makes her bed every morning, enjoys reading, typing, and remains fiercely committed to her Baptist faith.

“I love the Church,” she said.

She has in 2010 disclosed to the local paper that the secret to her long life is one of the tenets in the Bible’s Old Testament: “Honour your mother and father so your days may be long.”

USA Today reports that “Aunt V,” as she is fondly called, partakes in “fish and mutton and sometimes she will have cow foot.” She however avoids rum, chicken and pork.

The late Morano of Italy was the last person known to have been born in the 1800s. She passed on at the age of 177 years.
