Enyeama applauds Monaco’s Champions League victory

Former Super Eagles skipper, Vincent Enyeama, has hailed Monaco’s historic Champions League quarter-final feat.

The Principality club edged Manchester City 3-1 on Wednesday night to advance 6-6 on aggregate thanks to away goal rule.

The exit represents the first time one of Pep Guardiola’s side failed to reach the last-eight of the Champions League.

It is also the first time a team will be knocked out of the competition after scoring five goals in a first-leg tie.

Enyeama, who plays for rival French club, Lille, thus put aside club affiliation to hail the outstanding performance of Leonardo Jardim’s team.

The charismatic shot-stopper conceded four goals when he faced Monaco in the French Ligue 1 in September, but that didn’t stop him from celebrating their victory against City.

Monaco are the only French side left in the competition and Enyeama will be hoping they continue their quest to redeem the French Ligue 1.
