Observers tip Cameroon’s Paul Biya as next for ouster

Cameroon president Paul Biya

Observers have tipped Cameroon’s President, Paul Biya, as next to be removed after Sudanese President, Omar Al-Bashir, was forced to resign on Thursday.

Days of non-stop protests forced Al-Bashir to resign his position on Thursday after 30 years in power.

Abdelaziz Bouteflika had last week stepped down as Algerian President after 20 years in power following weeks of protests.

Algeria’s interim president, Abdelkader Bensalah, announced on Wednesday that a fresh presidential election would be conducted on July 4.

Biya, who is 86 years old, has been President of Cameroon since 1982.

The wave of revolution blowing in North Africa, many have now said, is likely to extend to Central Africa.
