Travel content creator Pelumi Nubi has arrived in Nigeria after more than two months on the road from London, United Kingdom.
Nubi, 29, arrived at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border around 10am on Sunday.
She was received on behalf of Lagos State Government by the commissioner of tourism, arts and culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka; and the special adviser to the governor on tourism, arts and culture, Idris Aregbe.
There were also performances by the state’s cultural troupe.
Special adviser on media and publicity to the Lagos State governor Gboyega Akosile said on social media that the welcome ceremony was organised by the government.
He wrote, “Lagos State Government gives a hero’s welcome to peluminubi_ , a Nigeria-British citizen who who did a solo drive from London to Lagos.”
On arrival at the border, Nubi was left in tears when she saw her father and the welcome ceremony organised in her honour. She shared a video of the emotional moment on Instagram where she has been updating the public about the trip.
Nubi will also be received at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
She posted a video of the preparations at UNILAG on Sunday on Instagram, expressing amazement.

“Hold on, Is it this huge?? Unilag really did say Pelumi hold our drink. This is finally happening!!! Thank you all for making this happen. The love I have received from everyone of you has been so wholesome,” she wrote.
“I say thank you and I can’t wait to see you all. Let’s save my speech for the stage. I am getting ready! Lumi can’t wait to meet you.”
Nubi was earlier scheduled to be received at UNILAG on March 23. However, her arrival in Lagos was delayed due to travel issues. She also had an accident in Liberia.
Nubi embarked on her solo trip in a car named Lumi on January 30, 2024.
