I’m not a member nor financier of IPOB — Uju Anya

Nigerian-born American professor of modern languages Uju Anya has said that she is not a member nor financier of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Anya got the world’s attention when she wished the dying Queen Elizabeth “excruciating pain” in her last moments for sponsoring the “genocide” that displaced her family, referring to the Nigerian Civil War of 1967.

Anya told PUNCH on Sunday that her life has been under threat since then. She said some persons have been impersonating her on Facebook.

“People are putting out fake statements, saying I am a member and financier of IPOB or Independent Biafra or any political candidate like that, and they are using a fake Facebook account that bears my name. It is a lie. There is nothing like that,” she said.

Anya, who is a gay, noted that she has no Facebook account and that she left the platform four years ago.

The associate professor said the impersonators were creating a “huge problem” for her which could make the Nigerian government label her a terrorist.

Anya earlier clashed with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos over her tweet which was critical of Queen Elizabeth. Twitter has since removed the tweet for violating its policy.
