Fani-Kayode ‘amazed’ at Ganduje’s request for easing of lockdown

Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, says he is ‘amazed’ at Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s request for the Federal Government to ease the lockdown in Kano over Ramadan.

Ganduje had made the request on Thursday “to enable people stock their homes, especially now that majority of us are fasting.”

He added: “It will also ease the economic hardship in the state.”

The governor’s request followed a rise in COVID-19 cases and strange deaths in the state.

In a tweet, however, on Friday, Mr Fani-Kayode said: “It amazes me that the Governor of Kano can be asking for a relaxation of the lockdown in his state because of Ramadan even when his people are still dropping dead like flies.”

Then he asked rhetorically: “Did Christians ask for a relaxation of the lockdown during Easter?”

President Muhammadu Buhari imposed a total lockdown in Kano on Monday to forestall the spread of COVID-19 and an explanation of the strange deaths in the state.

As of Friday, Kano has 219 confirmed cases of the disease, the state with highest record of the ravaging disease after Lagos.
