Nigeria records 248 new coronavirus cases, total now 4,399

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 248 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 4,399.

The agency announced the latest figures via a Twitter thread on Monday morning.

Of the 248 new cases, Lagos has 81, Jigawa has 35, 26 are in Borno, Kano has 26, 20 in Bauchi, 13 in the FCT, 12 in Edo, 10 in Sokoto, seven in Zamfara, four each in Kwara and Kebbi.

Others are two each in Gombe, Taraba, Ogun and Ekiti and one each in Osun and Bayelsa.

The agency said that across the country, 778 have recovered from the disease and have been discharged while 143 have died from it.

Correcting an error, it said: “On the 9th on May, we announced 45 discharged cases & 4 deaths in FCT. Due to system error, 32 discharged cases and 2 deaths were wrongly announced

“Therefore, FCT recorded 13 discharged cases & 2 deaths on May 9 2020. We apologise to @OfficialFCTA for this error.

“The NCDC remains committed to providing valid and accurate data.”
