7 dead as Nigeria’s coronavirus cases rise to 8068

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 229 new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

The latest figures bring the nation’s total confirmed cases to 8068.

According to the NCDC on Monday night, the new cases were recorded in Lagos (90), Katsina (27), Imo (26), Kano (23), FCT (14), Plateau (12), Ogun (9) and Delta (7).

Others are Borno (5), Rivers (5), Oyo (4), Gombe (3), Osun (2), Anambra (1) and Bayelsa (1).

The agency said on Twitter that 2311 coronavirus patients have been successfully treated and discharged nationwide while seven have died from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the tally of deaths to 233.

Lagos now has a total of 3595 confirmed COVID-19 cases to stay top, followed in second position by Kano with 919 confirmed cases. The Federal Capital Territory occupies third position with 519 confirmed cases.
