Bandits have reportedly killed 50 persons in Kerawa, Rago, Marina, Zariyawa, Hashimawa, and Unguwar Barau villages, all of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack is said to have occurred over the weekend.

Police in Kaduna have confirmed the incident but are yet to reveal the casualty figure.

Spokesman for the police in Kaduna, Muhammad Jalige, said a team comprising the commissioner has set out to the villages to assess the situation.

Women and children are said to be part of those slain.

It was gathered that the bandits attacked the villages following a recent raid on their hideouts by security forces.

Hausa Service of the Voice of America said on Monday that about 50 persons were killed in the attack.

“If we start this funeral now, we will not finish till midnight. We saw a plane, but it just passed like it was flying to Makkah,” a source told the VOA.

“These killers are not just bandits, they are Boko Haram, they did not steal anything, they just killed and burnt peoples’ belongings.”
