34-year-old emerges speaker in Kwara

A 34-year-old former staff of the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, Niger State, Yakubu Danladi, has been elected speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly.

Mr Danladi, a first time member of the Assembly, represents Ilesha/Gwanara state constituency.

The All Progressives Congress’ (APC) member was voted unanimously on Tuesday.

He was nominated by member representing Balogun-Ojomu constituency of Offa Local Government, Saheed Popoola.

The move was seconded by Haliru Danbaba.

The new speaker earned a degree in electrical/electronics engineering from FUT Minna in 2016.

He was a staff of FUT Minna between 2010 and 2018.

In 2011, he was Kwara North youth co-ordinator of Buhari Campaign Organisation in the defunct Congress Progressives Change (CPC).
