3 reasons Liverpool were right to buy Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah Liverpool

Liverpool recently completed the signing of Egyptian midfielder, Mohamed Salah, from Roma.

The 25-year-old cost the Reds about £39m after initially snubbing Anfield for Chelsea in 2014.

Now with Salah finally united with Liverpool, what should we expect from the ex-Basel man?

Here are three reasons he is a good buy.

  1. Pace

Salah’s biggest strength is his pace and with Liverpool setup, he will fit in adequately. Reds manager, Jurgen Klopp, is a huge fan of high tempo football and his teams are devastating on counter-attacks. At Borussia Dortmund, Marco Rues and Mario Gotze provided super outlets for the German manager’s team whenever they attack or break on a counter and he will be hoping that Salah and Saido Mane will provide such electrifying combo at Anfield.

  1. Goals

In two seasons at AS Roma, Salah scored 29 goals in 65 appearances. Adding the six months he spent at Fiorentina, then that’s 36 in two and a half years in Italy. He is almost certain to continue that trend at Anfield. Considering the rich vein of attacking talents at the club’s disposal, the Egyptian may even eclipse his best return of 16 in a single season.

  1. Assists

Aside from the goals, Salah will create goalscoring chances for his teammates. The Egyptian amassed 11 assists last term, more than all of Liverpool’s front men. In fact, the 25-year-old provided seven goals for Edin Dzeko alone in the previous campaign.
