Former Governor of Imo State, Achike Udenwa, has thrown his weight behind the governorship ambition of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, describing him as humble, experienced and very prepared for the task of governance.

Udenwa stated this on Thursday at his Amaifeke home, when Ihedioha paid him a courtesy visit when his state-wide consultation and sensitisation tour got to Orlu Local Government Area.

“I know Honourable Ihedioha very well because he has been around since 1998/99 and all through that time, I have had very close contact with him,” Udenwa declared,

He spoke further: I make bold to say that he has the qualities we are looking for. I know him as somebody who is very humble, good-hearted and indeed as someone who is intelligent. He is no doubt experienced and prepared for the task of governance. I know Emeka as someone who has strong conviction too.”

Continuing, he said, “I am not a man that does things without conviction. I am somebody that must be convinced about what I am doing and I believe Emeka is convinced about what he is doing. I pray that God makes him governor of Imo State because one thing also going for him is his integrity.”

Ihedioha thanked the ex-governor for receiving him and his entourage, and described Udenwa as a transformer who not only redeemed the state but indeed reshaped the economic landscape of Imo State.

The Deputy Speaker briefly recounted his long standing relationship with the former Minister of Commerce and bemoaned the state of affairs in Imo State and urged him to rise to the occasion as the entire state is waiting to see his position.
