Zion Prayer Movement dismisses gun attack claim on Evang Ebuka Obi

Zion Prayer Movement Outreach has dismissed reports that its spiritual leader Evangelist Ebuka Obi was attacked by gunmen during the commissioning of a free hospital in Aguleri, Anambra State.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos by Evangelist Obi’s media adviser, Dan Aibangbe, the ministry described the claims made in a viral YouTube video as false.

Mr Aibangbe explained that the hospital commissioning, held last week, was attended by government officials, dignitaries and a large number of worshippers without any security breach.

He confirmed that Obi and his team left Aguleri around 4 p.m. and arrived safely in Owerri, Imo State, contrary to the video’s claim of an attack at 8 p.m.

He alleged that the video could be a strategy to draw traffic to the blogger’s channel or a move to discourage worshippers from attending the church’s upcoming end-of-fast crusade scheduled to hold in Ngor Okpala, Imo State.

“The fake video could be a ploy to attract traffic to the blogger’s channel or a mischievous attempt to create fear among the faithful, especially those travelling from the diaspora for the crusade,” Aibangbe said.

He assured worshippers that security arrangements had been made for the event, covering safety, crowd control and personal protection.

He urged members of the public to disregard the report and rely on verified sources for information.

The ministry also disclosed that the misleading video has been flagged to YouTube for possible sanctions.
