Skit maker Zicsaloma has knocked online trolls for mocking the physical appearance of his mother, who is currently battling cancer.
The comedian, whose name is Aloma Isaac, called out the bullies in a video shared on social media, revealing that some people made unkind remarks about his mother’s nose after he posted a video of her speaking about wanting to attend his movie premiere.
“I saw some comments saying my mum’s nose is big, asking me, ‘Why you no do surgery for her?’ People were saying my mother is ugly,” he said.
Zicsaloma, 32, described the comments as disgusting and explained that his mother is over 70 years old and currently fighting a terminal illness.
“You’re saying this about a woman who is over 70 years old, fighting a terminal illness like cancer. I wish most of you saying all these negative things about my mum will get to 70 years and look as good as she does,” he added.
The Abia-born entertainer also condemned the mentality of many social media users, linking it to the larger issues plaguing the country.
“This generation is finished. That is why sometimes I say we deserve what we get in this country. A country filled with bullies, and people will be shouting justice,” he said.
“People who reason like this—how can they vote for a good government? How can there not be tribalism or religious sentiment? How can you call a woman of over 70 years who is battling cancer ugly?”
Zicsaloma gained popularity for his comedy skits and appearances on social media. Before venturing into content creation, he was a contestant on The Voice Nigeria Season 2.
Earlier this year, he underwent a cosmetic procedure in Turkey to enhance his facial appearance. The surgery, which included a rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), brow lift and eye rejuvenation, was documented on his page.
According to the skit maker, he chose to undergo the procedure after years of being mocked by people, including his own siblings, over the shape of his nose.
“Some of you think rhinoplasty is a death sentence… some have breathing issues, but in my case, it’s for aesthetics,” he said in February.
“I already love my result, and it’ll look way better in one or two months time.”
Despite the backlash, Zicsaloma said he has no regrets, adding that the procedure was pain-free and part of his journey to self-love.
