In a recent interview, Yvonne reflected on her journey, saying:
“The emotions I feel when I reflect is just fulfillment, gratitude and love, some of the people that got into the industry the same time with me are no longer here, so I’m grateful for the grace that has brought me this far and kept me relevant.”
“It’s really a rebirth because the last 20yrs seemed to have been a period of self-discovery… I am now ready to show that part of me to the world, every rebirth comes with new vision and renewed gusto.”
To mark this milestone, Yvonne is launching a foundation aimed at educating 5,000 children over the next five years and empowering 100 single parents with businesses in two years.
Her rise to fame started with a cameo in 2Baba’s classic hit African Queen music video, which introduced her to a wide audience. Initially hesitant to take the role, she later credited the video with giving her the visibility that opened doors in Nollywood. Over the years, her breakthrough films, including Okafor’s Law and 10 Days in Sun City, helped cement her status as a household name and showcased her versatility as an actress.
