First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has celebrated mothers across the country and around the world in a message to mark the 2026 Mother’s Day celebration.
In a statement on Sunday, Mrs Tinubu thanked mothers for their role in raising families and supporting their children.
“Today, I honour and celebrate every mother across Nigeria. Your love, care and sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” she said.
She said the daily acts of care by mothers play an important role in family life.
“Beyond the big sacrifices, it is the small, quiet moments that define a mother’s love. On this day, we carry those moments in our hearts and say thank you for the warmth and love you give,” she added.
The first lady urged mothers to continue guiding their children and passing on values to the next generation.
“I implore our mothers to continue to teach and guide the children, passing down wisdom and strength that will benefit future generations,” she said.
Oluremi Tinubu also prayed for mothers and families, expressing hope that they would enjoy the results of their efforts in the lives of their children and future generations.
Mother’s Day is observed in many countries to recognise mothers, motherhood and their role in society.
The day is marked on different dates around the world, most often in March or May.
