Gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori has joined in mourning veteran gospel singer Evangelist Toun Soetan who died at the age of 72.
Alaseyori paid tribute to the late singer in a post shared on Instagram on Saturday.
She shared a photo of the deceased and wrote, “Your legacy will truly live on.
Thank you mama for living for God and making our childhood memorable.
“It is well!”
Soetan was known in Nigerian gospel music circles for her ministry and songs that influenced many younger singers.
Alaseyori has often acknowledged the role of older gospel ministers in shaping the genre and inspiring a new generation of worship leaders.
In August 2025, she hosted a programme in Lagos titled Celebrating the Legends where she honoured gospel music veterans aged 60 and above. The event brought together singers including Ebenezer Obey, Bola Are, Funmi Aragbaye, Joseph Adelakun and the deceased who offered prayers and words of encouragement for her.
The programme was organised to recognise pioneers of gospel music in Nigeria and celebrate their contributions while they are still alive.
