Actress and beauty queen Yetunde Barnabas has slammed social media users who bullied her three-year-old daughter for using a stroller.
In an Instagram post on Monday, the former Miss Pepeiye of Papa Ajasco & Company fame described the comments as shameful and unsolicited.
“You fools bullying a three-year-old on why she’s still using a stroller are really shameless. I am not that gentle when it comes to my child o, I will rubbish you… and some will even comment as if they’re helping you train?” she wrote.
“I’m so pissed off, y’all will just sit in your dirty houses and think you can type rubbish on everybody’s page. I will block you off. When you travel with your own child, carry them on your head since poverty has eaten you deep. When is it a crime for a toddler to use strollers?”
Explaining her decision, Barnabas said she often shops alone for hours while abroad and uses the stroller to ensure her daughter’s comfort and safety.
“I will be going out to shop by myself for over three hours, and you expect me not to carry her inside stroller keh? Awon Ode, Oponu. Don’t hide under emojis and drop silly comments on my page. I will respond to you in a way you won’t like ooo ehn ehnnn.”
Her post drew support from many followers. One wrote: “It’s how people are professionals when it comes to training other people’s children but turn another eye to their own. Always giving unsolicited advice… Children are peculiar in their own ways. Give parents a slack, please!”
Another said: “Even most of them don’t know what stroller means ooo. I come in peace.”
A third added: “My daughter used her stroller till 4 or more sef anytime we’re outside the country. Kini gbogbo jatijati yen? Why are people this rude?”
Yetunde Barnabas, 29, won The Most Beautiful Girl in Abuja pageant in 2017 and Miss Tourism Nigeria in 2019 before transitioning fully into acting. She married Nigerian international footballer Peter Olayinka in March 2021.
Olayinka, who currently plays for Red Star Belgrade in Serbia, has represented Nigeria’s Super Eagles since 2019. The couple welcomed their daughter, Gemma Iremide Tolani Olayinka, in July 2022.
