Actor Yemi Solade has reacted to the absence of Nollywood stars at the funeral ceremony of Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran.
On Saturday, Solade shared a picture of the deceased on Instagram with the inscription: “What actor Segun Remi (Chief Kanran)’s funeral taught me.”
He wrote, “It taught me that as long as one is NOT materially blessed, one is a NOBODY in Nigeria 🇳🇬.
“WHERE WERE THE MOVIE STARS DURING HIS FUNERAL ACTIVITIES?
“IT’S VERY SAD AND APPALLING…. NOT EVEN AT THE SERVICE OF SONGS / ARTISTS NIGHT.
“WELL, THE FEW OF US WHO WERE ON GROUND TO CELEBRATE HIS LIFE AND TIME…. I HOPE YOU HAVE PICKED A LESSON OR TWO.
“FOOD FOR THOUGHT!”
Chief Kanran, a veteran of the movie industry, died on August 15 at the age of 70.
His wake-keep and service of songs were held on Thursday, followed by his funeral on Friday, at his residence in Beckley Estate, Abule Egba, Lagos.
The ceremonies were marked by emotional scenes. His elder sister broke down and nearly collapsed after sighting his body in the coffin.
Fans and colleagues have since continued to pay tribute online, praying for the repose of his soul and consoling his family.
